The Curator’s Ledger
Entry No. 1: Concerning the Establishment of a Publishing House
I have been asked why I established Bert the Bard Publishing.
The question presupposes that I established it.
This is not entirely accurate.
Some time ago, I discovered several pages of writing in my Ledger. I had not written them. Indeed, I recognized neither the handwriting nor the people described.
I sought out the authors.
I have since come to regret certain introductions.
Mr. Flint, in particular.
Nevertheless, the manuscripts accumulated, the authors argued, the characters began appearing where they had no business being, and someone suggested that we ought to publish the material.
Well, here we are.
I should add that the suggestion appears in my Ledger.
Three days before anyone made it.
